Beginner's Tutorial: Detaching UVs
When unwrapping 3D models, you may often want to break apart large UV islands into smaller pieces.
One way to do this is to use the Unweld UVs tool.
As an example, let's create a sphere primitive in Unwrap 3D. Click Create | Sphere, and click OK:
First, enable face selection mode, then select the faces you wish to detach. Then click on the Unweld UVs button,
on the vertical toolbar. Your selection will break off into its own UV island, which you can then move freely:
To continue detaching UVs, repeat the process. Select more faces, and click the Unweld UVs button:
